Is my computer WPA compatible and wireless N ready?

How can I find out if my PC is WEP or WPA compatible with my router. This is a new router and wireless N capable (this is for higher speeds?). I can't seem to find the settings in windows 7, the computer somehow doesn't "see" the router in "View Wireless Networks"? Also have a laptop with windows XP installed.
