You CAN do the time cheat and play the game normally without a purple shop and still get customers. You need to turn your wi-fi off before you do it. If you turn your wi-fi back on, don't go back into the game until it's turned back off. My iphone was on 15th December when the game decided to bugger up on me but the cheat worked fine so it is do-able
