I don't think it's possible with the standard OS Apple provided with the iPhone 4 or 3G/3GS. But I do know it IS possible to delete single calls, but unfortunately only after jailbreaking. There is an app for this through Cydia (or a .deb file), but I don't remember what's it called anymore. I could look it up for you. You could probably also delete recent calls with SSH, but again, iPhone needs to be jailbroken and the app would be more handy. What are you hiding :)
