If you play enough, earn trophies, earn your great shot bonuses, etc., you really don't have to spend any extra money on Golf Bucks. I got the app on sale, and spent $5 on in-app purchases just to support the devs! To save Golf Bucks, simply don't spend money on irons. That way you will have plenty of GB for the bonus courses! Just a heads-up, if you don't mind playing on a PC, the PC version is much, much less dependent on GB than the mobile version. I have both the PC and iOS versions, and love them both.
